Jacob's Ladder

This is the beginning of a piece for an exhibit on dreams from the the Old Testament which will open in Minneapolis in January 2013.   I have now completed the first step which represents the forming magma and minerals inside the earth itself.

Better Photo

Still working on getting a great shot of this 6' piece.  Issues with getting the light to be consistent, but this one is better than the last one.

DONE (sort of)

Chroma:Yellow is essentially done.  No sleeve yet nor label nor professional photos so there are pins visible in this terrible photo I took with my iPhone with nothing but ambient light.   But here it is, all 70" of it.

btw - There is something wrong with Blogspot this week whereby it's only showing this week's uploads.  For the rest of the content please hit "older" posts below the last photo.  I've tried to fix it to no avail.  Any ideas???

5 Strands

This is the last in the series of the contemporary hand embroidery round robin 8 inch squares that five of us have been developing.   I have posted only the ones that I have made as it is up to the other artists to do as they like with theirs.  The exciting moment will arrive in mid July when all the work that was inspired by our first pieces is sent to the original artist.   This piece will go off to Cindy McConnell in Washington.   Our challenge was to do a piece in response to the ones we receive from each other every three months so this will have been a 15 month project.  I can't wait to get my first one back with its accompanying artworks next month!!

Shroud

Shroud found a new home as it was purchased at the Hangar Gallery exhibit.   The underlying white piece is one I wove with a variety of yarns.  I buried the whole thing for a couple of weeks to get the natural changes.  After washing it, I collaged it with antique lace and some of the rusty metal my cats bring into the studio for me to work with.  I wish it and its new caretakers a long a joyful relationship!!

Final Module DONE!!

Now comes the tricky part . . . This baby weighs about 10 pounds and now I'm going to hand stitch black binding between all the modules and then do a yellow running stitch into the binding.  I can't imagine how I'm going to handle all this physically.   I got a sore back yesterday just pinning it to the felt ground!  Only six more panels in the Chroma series unless I lose my mind first!!   The photos will get an upgrade when it is all done.

Module Seven is Complete

I was able to steal minutes here and there to get this one done - all happy flowers and delicious flavors.

Back From Long Island

The first four of these pix were taken at the Jackson Pollack/Lee Krasner House and the last is an outdoor sculpture from Jack Lenore Larson's 16 acre garden.
